Consumer Credit Reports

When generating a Consumer Credit Report, Orange Tree submits a request to a major credit bureau for an “Employment” credit report on the applicant. Results returned may include information on the following:

  • Current & past trade accounts
  • Current & past lines of credit
  • Public records (bankruptcy & tax liens)
  • Accounts in collection
  • Payment history
  • Addresses and names associated with the consumer
  • Other inquiries into the applicant’s credit
  • Some information about the consumer’s employment history

As required by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), an “Employment” credit report does not include a credit score.  An employer’s use of credit information for employment is subject to state law limitations in a number of states. To better understand these state limitations, as well as how and when credit information may be considered in employment decisions, check out our whitepapers section in the resource center.
