Columbus, Ohio Bans Employers From Inquiring About Salary History

Columbus has become one of the few cities in Ohio, alongside Cincinnati and Toledo, to enforce a "salary history ban."

This regulation restricts employers from asking potential employees about their previous salaries or wage rates from past employment. The ban in Columbus went into effect on March 1, 2024.
